Chamaelirium luteum is the scientific name for a perennial flowering herb in the Melanthiaceae family. It’s commonly known as False Unicorn, Blazing-star, Devil's Bit, Fairy Wand, and Helonias. The herb is native to North America and typically flourishes in wet meadows and deciduous woodlands.
Native Americans considered False Unicorn a natural tonic and remedy for feminine health issues, including menstrual pains and regular period support, and for treating morning sickness. It was also used for digestive system and urinary health support.
Modern Studies:
Adopting its traditional use, today False Unicorn is mainly referred to as an herb beneficial for women’s health. The roots are commonly utilized to ease menstrual pain and regulate menstruation. It’s also used as a tonic to maintain digestive system health, as well as to expel parasites.
