Tongkat Ali is the common name for Eurycomalongifolia – a flowering shrub from the family Simaroubaceae. The shrub can grow up to 33 feet tall and often remains unbranched. The root of Tongkat Ali has long been used in herbal medicine in Asian countries, particularly in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam. It is also used in the modern health and wellness industry as a food additive and in supplements.
Tongkat Ali is also known with the names of Malaysian Ginseng, PasakBumi, and Long Jack.
